Filling A Need
It started in 2020, with a phone call from a large grocer having difficulty finding Black and Brown growers to purchase produce from. Karena Poke identified the missed opportunity, knowing that small growers usually don’t have the capacity to meet large supply demands and recognized the need for a community of small Black and Brown growers to bid collectively and share resources.

BGA hence started a collective that would empower, increase financial stability, and cut out the middle man. Our goal is to help growers connect to restaurants, grocers, and families, securing lucrative deals and contracts.
